Common Fence Point Preparedness Committee (CFPPC) Meeting

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021 | 6:00-7:30 pm | Zoom meeting

Vision Statement: “The Common Fence Point Preparedness Committee is a volunteer group formed in July 2019 with the vision that Common Fence Point would be prepared for and resilient to acute hazards, such as flooding from intense storms and extreme tides as well as from the impacts of long-term climate change such as rising sea levels and the erosion of our coast.”

Mission Statement

    • To connect the residents of the Common Fence Point community and respond to their preparation and resilience needs.
    • To share pertinent, factual information and resources to the community at large.
    • To promote actives that enhance preparedness and resilience to disasters and climate change.
    • To coordinate with Local, Town, and State officials, residents, and stakeholders in our community.

  • Committee Reports

      • We need to formalize the timeline for notices regarding Meetings and Forums
    • Forums (Nicole Gotovich)
      • Boating Safety Forum
        • Our first hybrid – In-person/Zoom gathering
        • Despite some minor technical issues, seemed well-received.
      • Ice Cream Social / Award Ceremony
        • Saturday, June 19th from 2-4pm at CFP Hall
          • Four totes of Ice Cream
          • Volunteers needed for scooping
        • CFPPC table to help get the word out about what we’ve been doing.
      • Earth Day, 2022
        • Robert Gottlied is taking over for Jono Bixby
    • Shoreline Education Preservation Action Committee (SEPAC) (Jeff Prater)
      • Excellent turnout for Community Planting
        • Worked in two separate areas
          • Signs for the two areas should include acknowledging the sponsors of the sites and explaining what is happening
          • Article in the Portsmouth Times
            • We should share the article PDF in the CFP Newsletter
    • CFPIA (Jim Fogerty)
      • We need to work on specific content for our Web Page
        • We need to get he videos of our old forums downloaded to VIMEO so they can be shared on the web page.
      • Conley is attempting to create a newsletter schedule
        • We should put something in the newsletter

  • New Business
    • Grant Information (Pam Rubinoff)
      • There are funds available for Resiliency activities that improve the resilience throughout Portsmouth
      • We still have funds available for Preparedness Kits
        • Folder with all important information
        • Tote of necessary items (Family Kit)
        • Service Pack – tools necessary to respond to issues.
    • Banner for CFP PC (Pam Rubinoff)
      • Pam had been trying to create a banner for the CFPPC on Canva
        • “Common Sense for Common Fence Point”
        • Bad weather icons
    • Portsmouth Damages Assessment Field Exercise (Ray Perry)
      • Goal – to have an Exercise to assess damage after an event.
        • Tools to use before, during, and after the event.
      • Objective – to create a team to learn the process to assess damage.
        • Go step by step, to understand what to do after an event
        • A new function for CFPPC to get into Emergency Preparedness
        • Enhance Response and Recovery by creating solid initial Damage assessment
      • Type III incident
        • Early august.
        • Initial walk-through exercise
          • How would we do the Damage Assessment Process?
        • Need to have participants who are ready to invest
